First national planning meeting takes place:
  National Action Week committee established
Coordinating organisation(s) named
GCE focal point named
Agree which of the global activities you will participate in
Plan what materials you want to produce locally (poster, leaflet etc) and who will do this

Apply for campaign materials
Request funding application
Nov Hold second national planning meeting if necessary to reach agreement on activities and approve draft local materials
Nov 26 Deadline to return funding application
Dec GCE focal point should post information about national plans on the GCE website so that other groups can find out how to get involved
By Dec 10 GCE informs applicants of funding outcomes
Dec Local materials should go to the printer before the December holidays
Early-mid Jan
National planning meeting
  Set dates for national Back to School Day and national Pledge Event
Draw up a list of tasks for the remaining months and clearly allocate responsibility - a named individual for each task
Work out logistics of how Friends (cut-outs) will be collected and transported
Draw up a "hit list" of celebrities and important politicians you hope to involve, and divide up the responsibility for contacting them
Discuss national policy change objectives and national pledge
By Jan 15 You should receive the GCE campaign materials that you have ordered.
By Jan 31 Send mass mailing to schools/education groups explaining how to get involvedInclude GCE posters/leaflets along with any national campaign materials that have been produced
By Jan 31 As soon as dates of major national event(s) agreed, send invites to Head of State/key Ministers/celebrities
Early-mid Feb A good time for state/district/local planning meetings, once logistics and coordination mechanisms have been worked out at national level
By mid Feb
National planning meeting
  Finalise national policy change objectives and national pledgeCheck progress on key invites
By late Feb Schools and local groups to contact MPs, inviting them to participate in 'Back to School' day. A good time to try to get advance press coverage!
Mid Mar
National planning meeting
  Draw up media strategy - which journalists will be targeted and who will contact them?
What materials (press release, report/briefing paper, etc) will be needed and who will write and produce them?
Finalise details of national Pledge Event and national Back to School day
Mid Mar You could use e-mail/SMS/web to remind everyone about the Action Week and build momentum
31 Mar Check that all logistics are in place to get both Friends and children/adult learners to the capital for the national event
April 19 Send out press releases and contact journalists in person
April 24 Action Week kick-off!
