Education International supports Global Action Week
UNESCO supports Global Action Week
UNESCO is a core partner for Global Action Week. Through its various global networks, UNESCO actively mobilizes action and support from different Education for All (EFA) constituencies such as Governments, donors, multilateral agencies, civil society and schools. UNESCO field offices and National Commissions for UNESCO play an important role in organizing activities at country level in collaboration with GCE focal points and other partners.
Main activities around the Week:
- Organizing various activities at country level through UNESCO field offices
- Global launch of the UIS Report on Teachers and Educational Quality: Monitoring Global Needs for 2015, in New York on 25 April to be followed by the launch for Europe in Brussels on 26 April and other launches at county level.
- Mobilizing Education Ministers and EFA partners.
- Mobilizing the UNESCO Associated Schools Project Network (ASP Network), the UNESCO Clubs and teacher training institutes to participate in activities.
- Launches of the EFA Global Monitoring Report 2006 on Literacy for Life in a number of countries (France, Mali, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Niger, Nigeria, Uganda, Pakistan and Vietnam).
- Creation of the EFA Week website which contains information on the Week, UNESCO’s materials and documents on teachers and links to other partners and resources.
