Summary:
German campaigners received huge media support for their activities during Global Action week thereby raising awareness on the importance of education for all. About 150 children together with teachers and adults organized a major “Join Up” event in Leipzig. The gathering was at a strategic area near a big busy market place. The children held up banners saying "we need education - now! " They also put up some information desks where they explained to members of the public about Global Action Week. The children also told electronic and print media how proud they were to be part of such a big action around the world and that politicians should start to take action for education for all. Media houses responded positively with the head of the German broadcast company making a statement to all media entities to support the Global Campaign for Education. 24 May 2007
On the 25th of April a school in Leipzig organized a big Join Up event round a fountain near market place. About 150 pupils together with teachers and people who had just passed by took part at the event. The pupils hold up high banners saying "we need education - now! "and put up little information desks next the place. There was print and TV media and a radio station at the event. Journalists did interviews with the teacher and the pupils about the event and why they think education is so important. Pupils answered that they are proud to be apart of such a big action around the world and that politicians should start to take action for education for all: The leader of Garman broadcast company made a statement to media to support the Global Campaign for Education.
