Summary:
From Corfu and Crete to the very north of Greece, more than 100 schools participated in the Global Action Week. Events started with a primary school stopping traffic and handing out leaflets, and a large chain at a school in Crete, with lots of other creative things being organized by other schools. About 20 schools met with the political rank and file including some high profile Members of Parliament as well as some local mayors. The Greek campaign also announced the launch of GCE’s Report Form.

This year, the Greek coalition will try a decentralized approach, instead of organizing a big event in Athens, and will be putting their efforts into mobilizing schools to do things in their towns. 1100 schools have been encouraged to learn more about Education for All issues and to take action in a number of ways, for example; to have a lesson on the right to education and watch the GCE DVD; make paper chains as an activity during a lesson; invite local politicians to school to talk through the issues and have a photo shoot for the local media; organize a human chain in their school or in their town and involving the local media; sign up to the online action and to send a message and their chains to the President of the Democracy
The coalition will also try to organize for 1 very high profile politician to go back to school in order to capture national media attention, and will be doing media work around the 'keeping our promises on education' donor conference in May.
