Summary:
Niger was a buzz of activity during GCE’s Global Action Week. Campaigners mobilized an “officials back to school” day and a massive chain reaction in the Général Seyni Kountché Stadium involving thousand of pupils.  They passed on hand to hand the message of the coalition on the violations of education rights. The Minister of Education and the Ambassador of France were there to witness  the chain and the evidence. The Minister of Education promised to take his message to the Prime Minister.  The ceremony continued with music from the famous Nigerien rap group “Kaîdan Gaskya” and the amazing singer Hadiza Mangou.
All sorts of activities have been happening in Niger – a grand launch, a television debate. Politicians will be going into schools and also non formal schools such Koranic schools.  On April 25t there will be a massive pacific march involving everyone from teachers, parents, pupils, adult students and civil society all wearing t shirts and carrying of banners with slogans in French, Hausa, Djerma, Fulfulde, Tamasheq, Goulmance, Kanouri and Arabic all demanding the right to an education for all on April 25th  2007
