Head of Policy
Based: Johannesburg, South Africa or London, UK
We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable policy and advocacy expert on universal education. GCE’s Head of Policy will make a vital contribution to GCE's ability to make a difference in poorer countries. Working with education campaigners across the world, you will support a rights-based critique of both national education strategies and those of international institutions. You should combine up-to-date knowledge and critical analysis of education policies and national financing issues with a thorough understanding of the role of evidence-based advocacy in achieving change. Willingness to travel frequently and sometimes at short notice to diverse destinations is essential.
Minimum educational requirement is a degree at Masters level in either social science, development studies or education and development. Fluency in English is essential and competency in one of Arabic, French, Portuguese or Spanish is a strong advantage.
Salary scale: R440,000 – R585,000 (or € 45,000 - € 60, 000) depending on experience

First Round Telephone Interviews will be held in early November, followed by a face to face second round in Johannesburg on 15th December. Civil Society Education Fund Accountant
Based: Johannesburg, South Africa
The Civil Society Education Fund (CSEF) Global Accountant will support the closure and reporting process for the current phase of the CSEF project. This post will work with the CSEF project team to ensure that an independent end of project audit is carried out in respects to the conditions laid down in the grant agreement.
Minimum educational requirement is a university degree in Accountancy, Audit, Finance or Business administration, with 5 years experience in major project accounting and budget administration.
Salary: R280,000 - R441,000 depending on experience. (This contract is until 30th June 2012 with possibility for a further 1 year extension, subject to funding availability)
