What's happening in 2008:

Action Week in Burundi was launched by the Coalition Bafashebige in collaboration with the Ministry of Basic Education and Secondary, United Nations agencies and all partners of Education in Burundi. The activities will culminate in the World's Biggest Lesson on Wednesday. The Lesson will be followed by conferences and debates on Thursday and Friday. The Big Lesson will take place in the south of the of Capital Bujumbura.


What happened in 2007?

Seminars during Action Week were held to reflect upon the problems of supply of teachers, brain drain, how to best educate orphans and vulnerable children and to address the macroeconomic policies about education in Burundi. Campaigners engaged in dialogue with the Ministry of Education and donors, on a long term education plan and requested long-term funding.  Children also assembled during the week, with as many as 6,500 JOINING UP in Gatumba.
