Between 2003 and 2007, she coordinated the Education Watch programme of Ação Educativa, a key Brazilian NGO, focusing on the research and monitoring of education public policies, seeking to foster civil society empowerment to further influence the education debate and decision making process. Between 1999 and 2003, she initiated and coordinated the Brazilian National Campaign for the Right to Education, an important civil society network that thrives to date. 

Between 1994 and 1997, Camilla worked at the Latin American Regional office of the Kellogg Foundation. She has also been consultant of several organizations, including the European Community, and is the author of a series of articles and books in the area of education and rights, the latest being Equality of Ethnic Relations in Schools (2007).

In 2000, Camilla participated in the Dakar World Education Forum, integrating- as civil society representative- the Writing Committee that elaborated the text of the Dakar Framework for Action. 

Camilla was previously on the GCE board representing Ação Educativa and in January 2008 she was voted in to represent the Latin American Campaign for the Right to Education.

 

Involved in the trade union movement, she was elected Deputy General Secretary of SNPTES and in 1987 became elected National Secretary of the French Education Union (FEN), know today as UNSA-Education.

Monique Fouilhoux has been involved with Education International (EI) since its creation in 1993. She works on various areas, in particular Higher education and research issues and the impact of GATS and Trade agreements on education, with EI affiliates, intergovernmental agencies and non-governmental organisations. She is particularly engaged with the most pressing issues concerning academics and researchers, such as working conditions, careers, academic freedom, mobility. Monique is also Secretary of the EI European Higher Education and Research Standing Committee (HERSC) and moderator of the ETUCE Higher Education and Resarch on-line Network.

Although Maria now lives in India, she was born and grew up in the Philippines. She read business administration at the University of the Philippines and was a student activist during the Marcos era. She was deeply involved in the anti-dictatorship movement before settling into rural development work, and gaining a Masters in Rural Development from the University of East Anglia. It was through working in this sector that she realized education was essential in the struggle to facilitate citizen participation and social transformation.

Maria Khan is an expert in advocacy work and coalition building having worked with many grassroots networks, and CBOs. She has led ASPBAE's work on research and documentation and encouraged the emergence of grassroots scholars to fill the void on a predominantly northern based research on adult education.

David now supports coalitions and campaigns on the right to education across Africa, Asia and Latin America. A major concern in the past three years has been challenging the role of the IMF in constraining spending on education, especially on teachers and he co-authored GCE and ActionAid publications: Contradicting Commitments 2005, Cancelling the Caps 2006 and Confronting the Contradictions 2007. In 2006 he was part of an External Panel reviewing the World Bank's investment of $14 billion in education since 1990 and he is now part of an international advisory panel steering the evaluation of the EFA Fast Track Initiative. He is co-chair of the Commonwealth Education Fund www.commonwealtheducationfund.org ; and manager of the Right-to-Education Project www.right-to-education.org. His latest book is called "The Politics of Prevention: A Global Crisis in AIDS and Education" (Pluto Press 2008).

 

SES Foundation was founded to promote the right of youth and develops its programmes with this objective.

 

He has been appointed as representative of Social Organisations at the Iberoamerican Advisory Council of 2021 Goals.

 

He is member of the Board of Directors and Coordinator of the International Financing Commission for Development of Latindadd Network and representative of such network at UNESCO Commission on Debt Swap for social investment.

Helle Gudmandsen is the Campaign Coordinator for IBIS in charge of running the Global Action Week (GAW) in Denmark. IBIS has been an international member of GCE almost 10 years and set up the campaign in Denmark. The campaign reaches out to half of all schools in Denmark: 200.000 pupils and 10.000 teachers. It is well known and highly respected by Danish authorities. Helle is 48 years old and has a background as a teacher and deputy principal in Denmark. From 2000 she worked on the UNESCO education program Breaking the Silence, and from 2002 to 2007 in South Africa for IBIS based in the Ministry of Education supporting development of a new curriculum.  She has been GAW coordinator since 2008, has developed teaching material in relation to the campaign and has supported IBIS education program in Ghana.

In 1980, he became Assistant General Secretary of the International Trade Secretariat of Education (ITSE), then Deputy General Secretary. During the formation of Education International (EI) in 1993, he was appointed Deputy General Secretary. Within this framework, Elie organised and supervised many EI activities in Africa, Latin America, Asia and Central and Eastern Europe, and more specifically in the Education and Development Cooperation fields.

He maintains close relationships with many intergovernmental organisations including the World Bank, ILO, WTO, OECD and UNESCO.

Kailash leads raid and rescue missions despite several attacks on his life. He and his colleagues at BBA have liberated over 76,129 bonded and child labourers and helped rehabilitate and provide education to tens of thousands of children. Kailash is the recipient of several international awards viz. International Peace Prize, Germany(1994), Robert F Kennedy Human Rights Award-USA(1995), Trumpeter Award(1995), Golden Flag Award, Holland(1998), La Hospitalet Award, Spain(1999), Raoul Wallenberg Human Rights Awards-USA,(2002), Freedom Award, USA(2006), US State Department's ‘Heroes Acting to End Modern Day Slavery Award' (2007), Italian Senate Medal,(2007).
