Togo: Abolish School Fees |
 6th October: The Togolese government has announced the abolishment of state fees for public primary and preschools, as of 6th October 2008. 2130 new teachers (about half of the current needs) are being recruited. The Togolese constitution makes school attendance compulsory for all children until the age of 15.
The Togo EFA coalition: CNT/EPT welcomed the decision with relief – especially given the poor living conditions of people following the recent severe floods in Togo.
