The GPE’s Global Education Summit (#GES2021), co-hosted by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, kicked off yesterday (28th July) with an enriching session structured in four thematic stages:

  1. Education’s reset: learning from COVID
  2. Gender equality in and through education
  3. Ripple effect: education’s impact on sustainability
  4. Financing for impact: volume, equity, efficiency.

GCE’s video “Voices from the ground: why education financing truly matters?” was part of the Summit’s official agenda on the panel related to financing for impact and was featured for the first time just before the closing remarks of this session.

“Voices from the ground: why education financing truly matters?” shows civil society, youth, and boys and girls from Honduras, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Senegal sharing their challenges in accessing free, quality public education and making a strong call to global leaders for more and better financing for education. As part of our One Billion Voices Campaign, the video is aimed at raising the voices of those most affected by the lack of education financing.

On July 29th, the hybrid Summit (live in London and virtual) starts at 10:00 BST. You can still register here and watch all sessions by logging in to the summit portal.
