Day 1 GCE General Assembly, Paris |

Bonjour from Paris, France where today GCE opens its 4th General Assembly, a very special event that takes place every three years. It is an opportunity for the GCE membership to gather from around the world to meet, discuss, debate and to set our collective course for the coming years. We celebrate our achievements, renew our solidarity, and determine together how we can most effectively confront the ongoing obstacles on the path towards Education for All.
The Assembly begins today with a Public Conference – “ Financing Quality Public Education: A Right for All”. Gordon Brown, Kevin Watkins (UNESCO Global Monitoring Report) and Lynn Murphy (Hewlett Foundation) join many other distinguished speakers contributing to this one-day event.
Energy and anticipation is high on opening morning as conversations buzz between delegates and observers representing [about 150] GCE member coalitions, GCE Board members and staff.
