Take Action

As the largest civil society movement for the right to education, we aim to mobilise this global voice through our campaign work. We campaign to hold governments to account for the commitments they have made and international frameworks they have signed onto, notably the Education 2030 Framework for Action. GCE campaigning takes place at local, national, regional and global levels. COVID-19 has stopped 1.5 billion students from learning or having an education at all. Education systems are facing a devastating crisis in public financing and the ever-increasing pressure on resources for public services only looks set to continue. At a global level, GCE has developed a new education campaign,  launched in 2021, the One Billion Voices Campaign, to provide a way to address the urgency of the global education crisis brought about by COVID-19. The launch of the Protect Education in Emergencies Now Campaign is a significant milestone in the GCE campaigning journey.

GCE and its members run national, regional and global campaigns across all of the Education 2030 and SDG4 targets. Anyone can get involved, at the local or international level. Explore more below to find out how you can get involved in our campaigns.

The Global Campaign for Education (GCE) is a civil society movement that aims to end exclusion in education. Education is a basic human right, and our mission is to make sure that governments act now to deliver the right of everyone to a free, quality, public education.
