Bridging the Gaps – Linking issues and challenges of EFA in Bangladesh, a media advocacy initiative of CAMPE

As part of CAMPE’s media advocacy strategy, the coalition has signed an agreement with Channel i (a private channel with the highest number of viewers in Bangladesh and abroad) to dedicate 2min 30sec with daily reports/stories on education issues during its prime news hour at 10-30 pm Bangladesh local time. The program has already started being shown from 25 June and will continue for the next 30 days following which CAMPE is hoping to build sustainable partnerships on critical issues based on stakeholder reviews.

The Gonoshakkhorota Shikhya Shongbad ( CAMPE Education News) will hopefully act as an eye opener to facts that stand as barriers to achieving the EFA Goals . It is expected to cover issues like education budget, planning, enrollment, drop out, teacher recruitment , girls education, quality teaching learning, school environment, skills development, technical and vocational education, compliance of existing government circulars promoting community participation and ensuring learner friendly environment in schools etc.

The initiative has been undertaken with the aim to raise awareness, create public opinion and demand for access, equity and quality education, build a sustainable partnership with the media and draw attention of policy makers towards issues that require serious consideration.
