What's happening in 2008:
The Head of State and Governor General of Papua New Guinea Grand Chief Sir Paulias Matane and his wife Lady Kaludia took part in the World's Biggest Lesson in two rural schools Porebada Primary School and Porebada Elemantary School where there were more than a thousand school children participating. School students taught the World's biggest lesson amongst school teachers and others.Village people, the ward Councillor, Board Chairman, Head Teacher of Red Scar High school and neighbouring schools and many other dignified guests took part.
Village primary schools in three different areas of PNG are taking part in the World's Biggest Lesson: Bavaroko Community School, Wards Strip Primary School, Coronation Primary School, Ted Diro Primary school, Hagara Primary School and Saint Michaels Primary School, in each school 1,500 – 2000 students will be taking part in the lesson. Primary and Secndary schools in other villages including Porebada are also in the preparatory stages or organizing the World's Biggest Lesson.
Amongst those sitting in class will be the governor for NCD and 4 Electoral Members. The Head of State – Governor General Sir Paulus Matane has been invited to attend a lesson in a primary school in the Central Province. In this area adult literacy groups are also taking part and they will met the Central Education Advisor, and member of Kairuku Hiri.
News about the World's Biggest Lesson will be aired on the YWCA's radio talk back sessions. A panel of speakers will discuss education on air, invitees for this discussion include the Prime Minister and Secretary for Education. They will both be given GCE's Global School Report Card ranking PNG's progress towards meeting EFA by 2015.
