What's happening in 2008:

Plans for Action Week are shaping up in Sri Lanka with lots of events planned.  A dossier will be compiled on the theme "Quality Education for All: End Exclusion Now", and presented to the Head of Sate, Minister of Education, Members of the Cabinet and Parliament as well s the local Provincial Departments of Education.  A national debate on 'Quality Education for Selected Children' will also be held and covered by the national media.  Following Action Week one school from each province will be selected and supported to ensure that all children receive a quality education, in a positive learning environment.

Arrangements have been made to now have the participation of the Minister of Education, Provincial Governors, Provincial Education Minsters, Provincial Politicians, Directors of Education, Secretaries of Education, Government Agents and Government Officers, Principals, Teachers, Students and Civil Society Organisations in the World's Biggest Lesson.

What happened in 2007?

Campaigners in Sri Lanka successfully conducted a media campaign, an essay competition, an oratory contest, formed a long human chain and prepared a dossier on the Right to Education. Parents, teachers and students took part enthusiastically in the national competitions and in the local debates on education rights.
