Safety tips

Things to remember when adding yourself into the chain:
  • If you are going to 'see the chain' with your class, spend some time looking through the chain before hand, to find friends with the most appropriate content. Note down the name so you can easily search and find these friends in class.
  • Do not include any contact information in your message.
  • If you upload a photo or video of yourself, make sure you do not include any contact information within it.
  • Do not give your username and password to anyone.
  • Use a combination of letters and numbers in your password, to make it more secure.
Join the Chain - Offline

The challenge is for everyone to join up and form the world's longest chain, so that world leaders can see how many children, teachers and other adults want every person to receive a quality education.

Education is a human right as enshrined in the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Last year 120 countries were involved as part of the Global Campaign for Education.

You can make your part of the chain by:

  • Creating and decorating a paper chain representing everyone in your class or school joined up.
  • Linking hands and taking a picture of your chain.
  • Thinking of other creative ways to show joining up, such as making a short film.
  • Joining up with the Global Campaign for Education coalition in your country. Find the GCE contact point in your country.
REMEMBER - get your class to write messages on the chain saying why receiving a quality education is so important.

Once you have made your chain, send it to your national leader.
Contact your local coalition to find out how to do this.
