To ensure everyone can realise their right to education we must make sure everyone has access to a trained teacher.
However, there is an acute shortage of teachers. To get every child into primary school, we need 1.7 million more teachers – 1 million more in Africa alone. In addition, each teacher must have quality initial and ongoing training.
This report is part of GCE’s Every Child Needs a Teacher campaign and identifies the gaps in the supply of teachers needed to achieve quality education for all.
