The Global Campaign for Education (“GCE”) is a not-for-profit organisation whose members are an alliance of independent and voluntary organisations, including non-governmental organisations and trade union federations.

GCE has prepared this Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) to explain the personal information we may collect from indivduals is collected, used, disclosed and otherwise managed.

Protection of Personal Information Act

The Protection of Personal Information Act came into effect on 1 July 2021.

GCE is committed to respecting and protecting your right to privacy as a visitor to our website.

Personal Information We Collect

Indivduals may choose to provide personal information, such as name and email address. Below is described the personal information that may be submitted, the methods by which they may be submitted and how GCE may use such personal information.

Campaigns

Individuals who are interested in supporting the GCE can choose to participate in a Campaign through online form. By providing the requested information, they agree to be registered with GCE as a supporter of the Campaign and to be included in the mailing list maintained to provide campaign updates. Individuals can also agree to the inclusion of their personal information in the mailing list maintained by GCE to provide generic education update inthe movement. The information will be: (i) used to send email communications associated with the Campaign or GCE; (ii) deleted when indivduals tell GCE that they would like this information removed via an unsubscribing link or a direct email communication.

Other Uses of Information

GCE may use the personal information provided for internal purposes, such as for website administration, data analytics and compliance purposes.

Ad Hoc information can be collected in order to participate in specific events, like the World Assembly. GCE might then ask for sensitive information like passport numbers or personal information related to gender of food preferences, in order to logistically prepare and facilitate bookings and transfers. This information will only be used for the intended purpose of participating in theses events, and will bve deleted after the event is over.

Children’s Privacy

We do not seek nor will we knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 16. Individuals aged under 16 must get their parents’, guardian’s or teacher’s permission before using the form or providing to us their personal information.

Where Personal Information Will Be Used

Personal information will be collected and processed within the GCE Secretariat or the relevant member country/coalition in case of a local campaign. It will NOT be shared with commercial organisations or organisations outside of the GCE.

How GCE Protects Personal Information

GCE maintains appropriate administrative, technical and physical security safeguards in an effort to protect against loss, misuse or unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration or destruction of the personal information provided via forms set up by GCE. These forms can be hosted on GCE servers, or via external third parties like Survey Monkey, Google Forms or MailChimp. GCE’s liability ends when using external providers, and the security of transferring data is guaranteed by the technical infrastructure of the third parties. Indivduals should be aware that no collection or transmission of information over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, and therefore, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any such transmission.

Access and Correction

Individuals have the right to access, update, and correct inaccuracies in their personal information, subject to certain exceptions prescribed by law, by using the contact information set out in the “How to Contact Us” section below.

Your Choices

If indivduals would like to opt out of receiving communications from GCE, they are requested to use the unsubscirption link provided in our emails or contact GCE using the contact information set out in the “How to Contact Us” section below. Please allow at least twenty-eight (28) days for communications to cease and for details to be removed from GCE’s mailing lists.
